How I Got Lost in Orange Oz

That’s right I’ve been wandering the cyber desert of Orange Oz. The Video below explains my screw up along with some updates of what I’ve been doing since I last posted here almost a MONTH ago.

  • Oh Nick, bless your heart, I know that was all a humongous pain. I can sympathize – although I had been more and more using my various Gmail accounts the last 4-5 years, I changed what I considered my primary email provider/ISP for the first time in (literally) about 12 years last year, and that resulted in quite a few headaches when it came to accounts for stuff that was tied to the e-mail addresses I had with that ISP, including several I had pretty much forgotten about. To date I still can’t get into my eBay account (that I’ve had since the mid-’90s!) because I no longer have access to that email nor do I bank with the same bank I did then.

It creates soooo many headaches when you switch much of anything. Since I almost entirely use Gmail nowadays I don’t predict I’ll have quite the same problems as I did if I ever switch ISPs again, but same as with your domain/etc problems, switches of much of anything often results in hassles you didn’t expect!

Great post and loved seeing Felix! 🙂

  • Hey, Nick! Love the sweater!!

My first thought when I started hearing this story was ‘Why do these things need to be so complex on line? It’s so easy off line.’ Then I remembered: Planning and Codes division, AZ Department of State (I mis spelled my name of all things. Try changing that!!) and others.

I certainly understand the frustration and headache. Orange Oz indeed!

    Felix might need some motivation…

    Thanks for a great post!!

  • Orange looks good on you by the way!

How horrendous! While you were talking, I was thinking about all the different email accounts that I use for different things and now-after seeing your video-I shouldn’t make the same mistake…in theory anyway lol.

Thanks for sharing that with us and above all, thank you for your training videos.

I look forward to your next posts!

  • It was a little bit of a pain but all of my own making of course. I started moving everything to gmail a couple of years ago. Then when I moved to Ontario from British Columbia, I lost that one account I hadn’t changed. So I’ve learned…gmail it is for me…it’s so painless to use I love it.

Yes when Felix is awake he is my video director…but he usually sleeps when I’m on cam…I wonder if he is trying to tell me something.

  • Yep that’s another one Steve…backing up in hard to do…LOL. I have a friend in BC recover stuff for me from an old hard drive. Keep everything in the cloud, I say.

  • I know exactly what you are talking about. I just (gosh I hate to say this) applied for my old age pension (why do they call it that). I filled out the form and off I went to Service Canada (only in Canada) to wait to have someone check my work out…only to find out…because I was born in the UK although I have lived here most of my life (7 years old when I arrived) that I need my permanent residence status even though I am a Canadian citizen. I’d never seen it…never knew I had one. Checked all my Mum’s old files…nothing. Now for 50 buck’s they will do the search for the record. Isn’t that nice of them.

As for Felix…he says a winter in Arizona would work nicely for motivation.

  • Orange and horrendous came too close together in your reply but then I quickly reread. LOL. Yes the theory is good…but do it now Paul before Murphy’s Law catches up with you.

Thanks for your comment on the training videos.
