Building a grand design for a life seems overwhelming and complicated and we tell ourselves endless stories about why it’s not necessary or how the fickle nature of life makes planning mute.
Quite often we plan the week but not the month or the year or the life then we wonder why our lives lack consistency.
Doing daily one plus actions in a vacuum that lacks a plan leaves you a victim to whim and whimsy.
Jim Rohn expressed it this way:
“If you don’t design your own plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they may have planned for your? Not much.”
When you sit down to focus on your one plus for today it needs to be built on a larger plan for the week, a greater plan for the month, a major goal for the year built on a big audacious dream, designed on a purpose that ignites your passion.
Then your action follow your plan and no the whim of the day or the hour, or someone else’s plan for you.
Sunday night or Monday morning is a great time to plan your week.
The turning of a year is a great place to stop to consider what parts of your dream you want to create goals for.
And this very moment is the time to stop to find your purpose and the huge impossible dream if you haven’t done so yet.
It doesn’t have to be complicated.
The purpose and the dream you build only once , then tweak as you grow into the person your designed the dream for.
The rest is taking manageable slices of your dream stated as goals, with action designed to move your forward one small step at a time.
As John C Maxwell states in his book, The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth: Live Them and Reach Your Potential
“Small disciplines repeated with consistency every day lead to great achievements gained slowly over time.“
Developing a simple process of creating that design, to make it easier to comprehend, and draw out that blueprint, has been my work for several years now. I feel I’ve made progress. I’m working on a series of webinars to bring these ideas to you.
Recently I created the first introductory video for the series entitled: 5 Barriers to Achieving Your Goals. In the video I outline 5 barriers that get in our way to building our life design. I would love for you to watch the video. You feed back is appreciated.
